Short Programmes

Enables higher education students to gain educational, linguistic, and cultural experience through short-term mobility.

1. Aim of the mobility

1.1 Study mobility:

  • Students who are enrolled in bachelor's, master's, or doctoral programmes and have an active student status, are eligible to apply for short-term mobility opportunities lasting 2 to 30 days.
  • For bachelor's students must have completed at least one semester of their current programme.
  • For master's and doctoral levels, eligibility begins from the first semester of studies.
  • The programme supports activities such as active conference participation, attendance at summer universities, and participation in intensive courses.
  • Mobility can take place at a European or non-European institution relevant to the student’s studies. An inter-institutional between the sending institution (Széchenyi István University) and the host institution is required for study mobility. However, please note that inter-institutional agreement is not necessary if the mobility is in the form of active conference participation or if it takes place outside of a higher education institution.
  • Credits earned abroad must be recognised as part of the student’s home university studies.

1.2 Research mobility:

  • Students enrolled in bachelor's, master's or doctoral programmes with active student status may apply for short-term research mobility lasting between 2 and 30 days.
  • In bachelor's programmes, scholarship may be used at the end of studies, specifically for thesis-related coursework.
  • For master's and doctoral levels, eligibility begins from the first semester of studies.
  • Mobility can take place at a European or non-European institution relevant to the student’s studies. However, if the mobility involves active conference participation or takes place outside of a higher education institution, a cooperation agreement is not required.
  • Knowledge gained (credits earned) abroad must be recognised as part of the student’s home university studies.

2. Application requirements

  • During short-term mobility, there is an opportunity to participate in conferences, professional events, or academic competitions, provided that the participation involves an active contribution to the professional content or organization of the conference (such as giving a presentation or leading a workshop). Additionally, the activity must be related to the studies of the student participating in the mobility.
  • The implementation of short programmes is not strictly tied to academic semesters; for example, summer schools held in July or August can also be supported.
  • The period supported by the Pannónia Scholarship for short-term mobility is 2 to 30 days (the exact duration is determined by the organizing institution).
  • It is possible to complete mobility at an institution with which there is currently no inter-institutional agreement. In this case, it is the student's responsibility to contact the institution, and if the response is positive, the contract signing process can be initiated.
  • Please carefully check whether a completed academic semester is required as a condition for participation in the selected mobility program.
  • It is possible to apply for multiple programmes; however, an applicant may only submit one application for the same period/semester at a time.
  • The same student may participate in mobility periods lasting up to a maximum of 12 months per academic cycle, regardless of the number or type of mobility activities.
  • In the evaluation of applications, priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received a scholarship.
  • Students must have the knowledge (credits) earned abroad recognized as part of their studies at home.

2.1 The location of the programme:

  • Any higher education institution in Europe and the rest of the world that has an inter institutional agreement with Széchenyi István University. The list of partners is available here: https://ipc.sze.hu/international-relations-sze
  • Non-higher education institution (no bilateral agreement required)
