A delegation from Huazhong University of Science and Technology was welcomed by University administrators on its first visit to Széchenyi István University. The meeting is thanks to the efforts of Prof. László Józsa of the Doctoral School of Regional Sciences and Business Administration at Széchenyi University.

Huazhong University of Science and Technology is a public University, located in Wuhan, Hubei province, China. It has twelve disciplines: engineering, medicine, management, science, philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, agriculture, and art.  The institution currently has 56,140 students of which 5% are foreign.

Huazhong University has established multiple contacts with USA, South-East Asia and Africa and now its efforts are being directed towards finding more European partners. In the pursuit of its plans to expand its ongoing internationalization and its exchange programmes, HUST is interested in offering scholarships to Hungarian students for periods of study in Wuhan, fully funded by the Chinese government. The advantages of the Hungarian Stipendium Hungaricum scheme were outlined to the Chinese visitors and the Erasmus programme was also mentioned. Areas of common interest such as cooperation between the Universities’ automotive faculties and local industry were also discussed in the latter part of the meeting.

At the conclusion of the talks, the Chinese delegation presented the Vice-rector of Széchenyi István University, Ms Eszter Lukács, with a handsome silk scroll depicting eight horses and inscribed with classical Chinese poetry. The Vice-rector thanked the Chinese visitors for their gift and looked forward to further cooperation with HUST.
